Continuing from the ‘Inspired’ thread, I rode Abbey bareback and bitless earlier this week.

I chose my moment carefully – Abbey can be a little sharp and spooky but she was in the right mood,we’d done lots of groundwork and she felt very ‘joined up’.

Abbey was incredible – it was like she’d done it all before.  I could stop her, turn her (either way) and change pace, all in a headcollar and leadrope.  I was pleasantly surprised how good my bareback seat was too!

Tonight we did some more classical dressage in the school (no video I’m afraid). For various reasons (weather being the main one!) it’s the first time I’ve done any ‘proper’ work with her for 10 days and I have to say she was really really good.  She was on the aids, in front of my leg, attentive and really tried for me.  I hope she’s the same on Saturday for our dressage test!
